In such a competitive market environment with changing economic conditions all businesses need to stretch their marketing buck further and for greater impact.
To come out on top, you need to use every available method that builds awareness of your product or service.
A great way to achieve
this is through signage, and not the type that sets you back thousands
of bucks. You want easy signage that drives customers to your website,
or creates an awareness of your business while remaining cost effective.
Best way to do it- over the Internet and in vinyl. It is affordable and
will keep within that tight budget for 2009!
As a retail store
owner, your doors and windows are your premier advertising space. Try
and visualise ways to maximise the use of this space using custom vinyl
decals. Do you have a theme that can be further enhanced by using the
front glass with supporting designs? Or do you have a special value offer?
What feeling are you trying to use to entice customers in? Use this to
help determine what designs might work.
By now you probably have lettering with your business name on it on your
shop front (at least). But what about your vehicle?
Simple lettering applied to a vehicle is a fantastically affordable
way to drive your advertising (literally) through the city. Any
staff doing deliveries or driving too and from work will instantly be
spreading the message. Our advice, if you have signage- make sure the
car is kept clean and driven legally!
The lettering can simply be business name, website address, phone number.
However, like any great marketing, a call to action will work best.

Custom lettering is also great for bumper stickers, so try and think of
by-lines or supporting statements that can be applied to the bumper or
top of the back window.
The other option is a magnetic sign but there are a few key reasons we
steer away from these for car signage:
- Magnetic signs appear temporary. Is that the message you want to give
your potential customers?
- Magnetic signs often colour differently after being in the sun, and
can appear tired and old.
- Scratches!!!! Magnetic signs do scratch the car.
QUICK TIPS FOR VEHICLE LETTERING:
*Don’t order
the lettering too small. Go less but bigger.
*Remember the car has 3 useful sides. Go back window minimum, then sides
as well.
*If the supplier can install, let them install- this way you avoid any
bubbles which can look tacky.
*Leave the WWW off the web address- everyone knows web addresses by the
.com or .com.au, so the www is wasting valuable space.
*Stick to readable colours. White works well on windows. Colours are often
not as readable and black is a no-no.
